Born in India, Shruti started practising yoga with her Mum at the age of 9 while growing up in the Midlands. She continued to develop a regular yoga practice in London after University, exploring a range of styles.
In 2010, after losing her Mum to cancer, Shruti found solace in annual yoga retreats and her yoga community, which helped her to navigate her grief. And crucially, after a ski injury in 2012, yoga supported Shruti’s rehabilitation from three leg operations. Working in the stressful legal recruitment sector, Shruti balanced the symptoms of stress and burnout with yoga and meditation.
In February 2020 Shruti completed her Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga teacher training and in 2021, she trained as a Massage Therapist (Swedish and Deep Tissue) and began working on retreats in France to help support her students find a sense of complete relaxation both on and off the mat.
Shruti’s classes are fun and light-hearted, with a focus on building body awareness and a sense of connection to one’s inner self. Recognising the unique anatomies and potential injuries that each student brings, she encourages them to find their own version of a yoga pose. It is these tweaks and variations that have helped her own personal journey of rehabilitation and healing over the years.
Shruti can be booked for a massage treatment in the therapy room at Yoga Point here.
