Introduction to Chinese Wellbeing Practices

September 12 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm

This workshop is open for people of all ages, no previous experience is required. Cost: £35

Join Haylin for an introductory two-hour workshop learning Qigong and the basic concepts for Taichi and Zen Patting.

The workshop will be a balanced combination of movement and stillness and is both focusing and fun for your mind.

At the end of the class, you’ll take away home some easy-to-do, highly effective movements that you can use anytime, anywhere to reduce tiredness, boost your immune system and regulate your nervous system. Practised long-term, these movements lead to a boosted immune system, balanced Yin Yang, and a more resilient, clear and calm mind in general.

The workshop will begin with Qigong and the Eight Session Brocade. The Eight Session Brocade is a widely practiced set of ancient Chinese medical Qigong exercises in China. It consists of eight gentle flowing movements with breaths, designed to target specific organs and meridians based on traditional Chinese medicine. It is a great way to start your day in the morning.

We will then look at more active exercises from Chinese martial art practices. We will play with Taichi Push Hands, a fun game that introduces how we can work with the ground and frame of our body to redirect forces. It’s also a great way to train agility of your body and mind.

Lastly, we will end the session with a Zen Patting routine to unblock meridian channels, and a 15 min Zhan Zhuang (Standing Qigong) to ground our mind.

As an introductory workshop, these two hours will not expect you master all the details and techniques, it is an invitation for you to go deeper into its layers of the philosophies. However, you will leave feeling both lighter, fresher and freer. Hopefully, you’ll be inspired to build your own daily routines to cultivate your wellbeing in the long run.
