SUMMARY:Each child a light
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column]\n	Book workshop\n	\n	[/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \n\n\n\n\n\n\nEach Child a Light\nEach Child a Light is a participatory fabric-arts project honouring and remembering the children of Gaza murdered in Israel’s ongoing genocide. Multiple acts of solidarity\, of bearing witness\, of mourning. A collective promise never to forget Gaza’s children. \nFrom across the UK and internationally\, the project brings together hundreds of people of all ages\, backgrounds and levels of experience\, including artists\, crafters\, activists; community and faith groups; children and students\, to stitch unique decorative squares\, each one dedicated to  an individual child. \nThe project was formed in response to the persistent failure of UK institutions – media and government – to acknowledge the identities and stories of the individual children underlying the devastating death toll. In collaboration\, and square by square\, we are building a large-scale quilted artwork which honours each and every child and records their name – creating an essential record and lasting memorial to so many young lives ended in violence. \n\n\n\nWe invite you to join one of our workshops\nWe run regular workshops led by experienced artists and crafters where you are invited to come together to design and stitch your own individual squares to be included in the quilt. In the making\, we offer a safe and supportive space to meet\, to talk\, to mark and remember all these young lives.  Stitching the children’s names is an act of bearing witness\, and by coming together in solidarity as a creative community with collective purpose\,  we will honour and remember every child. \nAll levels of experience (and none!) are welcome\,  and all materials and practical guidance are provided. If you would like to join a workshop please check upcoming dates and locations below. And if you are interested in hosting a workshop please do get in touch.  \nDuring our workshops\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDuring our workshops you will be guided and supported to design and make your own unique\ndecorative square naming and honouring an individual child killed in Gaza. Each of your contributions\nwill be stitched into the quilt\, adding to this growing testament to the lives of Gaza’s children. \n*please arrive promptly\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Workshop: introduction to backbends
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column]\n	Book workshop\n	\n	[/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Introduction to Backbends – Overcoming fear and finding balance. \nNina will lead this workshop to introduce and develop backbends. \nNot suitable for absolute beginners; you should have a reasonable level of fitness and regular asana practice. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur body’s natural response to danger is to curl in\, protecting our most vulnerable part – our heart\, both the physical heart and the energetic heart space (anahata). Backbends do the very opposite action opening us up to the world. We are exposing ourselves and that takes courage – but also builds more of it! Overcoming our fears on the mat can give us courage off the mat too. \nAnahata is the center of compassion\, and a positive balance in the heart chakra cultivates sensitivity and unconditional love for self and others. \nOur spines are an incredible combination of strength and flexibility – of Sthira and Sukha. \nPracticing backbends can open up the front body\, increase your hip flexibility\, and improve the mobility of your lumbar and thoracic spine. \nBackbends are invigorating and strengthening. They stretch the quads and hip flexors and help open up the shoulders and chest\, an area where lots of us hold tension. They build strength and power in the legs\, arms and back muscles.  Also\, they can teach us to embrace vulnerabilities and build resilience. \nWe will cover beginner to intermediate asanas; using props\, assists and fun drills to explore key backbend postures safely. \n\nBhujangurasana/Cobra & Urdhva Mukha Savasana/Upward Facing Dog\nSalabhasana/Locust & Dhanurasana/Bow\nSupta Virasana/Saddle & Ustrasana/Camel\nSetu Bandha Sarvangasana/Bridge & Urdvha Dhanurasana/Wheel\n\nWe will finish off with a Metta Bhavana\, meditation of loving kindness. \nCome and join me for a fun exploration of opening the body\, heart & mind \n\n\n\n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
