SUMMARY:Somatic Movement Workshop
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column]\n	Book Studio workshop\n	\n	[vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text css=””] \nStabilisation and Care During Difficult Times\n(Rest\, Movement and Dance)\nNervous System Stabilisation: Embodiment of Play and Curiosity. \nJoin Suhad for a deeply supportive somatic workshop dedicated to stabilising\, negotiating\, and reclaiming capacity of the nervous system to regulate. In this workshop\, we will explore the delicate balance of our autonomic states\, focusing specifically on how to differentiate between the sympathetic activation of hyper-vigilance (fight-or-flight) and the life-affirming activation of play\, connection\, and belonging. \nOur nervous system is our body’s primary recording system\, registering sensations and directing our responses based on past imprints. Often\, when the nervous system has been shaped by chronic stress or trauma\, it can misinterpret high energy as a threat\, locking us into a state of chronic hyper-vigilance. In this safe and supportive space\, we will learn to physically ground our awareness into our tissues and nerves\, cultivating the somatic resources needed to soothe the system and return to a state of safety. \nBy learning to stabilise our physiological state\, we open up the capacity for true play—a state of high-energy connection that allows for creativity\, vitality\, and ease. We will explore how to meet the imprints that keep us feeling guarded or defensive\, and practice the gentle art of down-regulating and self-soothing when the world feels like too much. \nYou will develop the skills to stabilise within the body’s intelligent responsiveness—learning to engage with openness and care as a move toward creation and away from numbness or denial. Through somatic practices\, we will embody an interdependent presence\, reclaiming communal safety as a way to face our shared reality without having to face it alone or in isolation. \nThis workshop is an invitation to explore your Soma (the body experienced from within) and learn how to build the nervous system flexibility required to move easily between activation and rest in community. \nSuhad’s intention is to provide a safe and supportive space for you to reconnect with your body’s natural capacity for healing and restore balance at all levels. \n£35[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Poetry workshop - Writing awake to times of Crisis - June
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column]\n	Book workshop\n	\n	[vc_empty_space][vc_column_text css=””]To achieve clarity and speak to the times we are living in\, it helps to be grounded in the present moment and our lived experience. \n‘Poetry is an act of attention. It asks us to look again and more \nclosely at things in the world. It wants to be beautiful as\nlanguage\, as performance\, but it wants to do something\nin the world’ \n– Kimberly Blaeser (Ojibwe) \nJoin us in a supportive and nourishing space\, as we take action by paying attention — reading and writing in response to what is going on around us\, close by and far away. There is much to cherish\, and much to strive to change\, and poetry is uniquely placed to reflect and shed light on the situation we find ourselves in. \nThis workshop is open to new and experienced writers of poetry\, and anyone who is curious about writing as expression and discovery. \nSessions last two and a half hours with a break.\nPlease bring something to write on. \n£25 \nAbout Shazea Quraishi \nShazea is a Pakistani-born Canadian poet\, translator and educator based in Brixton. She has taught for over 20 years\, with organisations including the Poetry School\, Arvon\, The Poetry Society\, Translators in Schools\, English PEN\, Exiled Writers and more.
