Lunchtime classes
There are the following lunchtime classes at Yoga Point:
Wednesdays from 13:00-14:00, mindful yoga with Nathalie
Natalie teaches the 8-week Yoga for the Mind model for stress, anxiety and depression and has this once a week drop-in yoga class drawing on Yoga for the Mind and other influences.
Thursdays
from 13:00-14:00
, Vinyasa Flow with Rachel.
Vinyasa Flow is a flowing hatha yoga practice much like that of Astanga vinyasa yoga, flowing from pose to pose pausing at different postures giving time to explore and feel. Each class has a different sequencing with a different focus each week. These classes are suitable for everyone. Classes are modified according to the needs of the students on the day.
Fridays Fluid Pilates from 13:00-14:00 with Laura.
This is an invigorating lunch-time session for all levels. Designed to improve core stability, strength and posture, Laura teaches a dynamic, flowing class that will stimulate and refresh past the post-lunch energy dip. Pilates helps to develop body awareness, improving and changing the body's postural alignment habits and increasing flexibility and ease of movement.
and on Mondays there is
Alexander Technique from
12:30-13:30
with Tanya.
In this ongoing weekly class, we will look at a whole range of themes to build up an awareness and insight into the more natural use of the body and mind. I will keep to the basic principles each week for those who come on an occasional basis but will be developing themes in more depth for those who wish to come regularly.
Each week will be very participative with a mixture of discussion, activities and observation. The classes will be practical and informative, but fun and relaxed too. Over time we will explore:
- The importance of the head, neck and back relationship
- How we can move and breathe with less effort
- How to reduce muscular tension
- How to improve posture
- Coping with stress better
- Using ourselves as a whole - mind and body
- Experimenting with a new approach to everyday activities
- Pausing and how this can help catch unhelpful habits
- Finding parts in your brain and body you didn't know existed
The class is suitable for people of all ages and levels of fitness. It is aimed both at complete beginners as those with prior experience of Alexander Technique.
